Facebook reenables “view as” feature

Less than a year ago, Facebook had one of the strongest security scandals it has seen in its career due to a security failure in the “See as” option, with which we could see our profile as any other person.

With this, each time a person entered the “View as” option and selected a specific person, all their data was extracted by a third-party company and used without permission.

This caused the platform to be in a serious legal problem, as presumably leaked data as sensitive as passwords and private conversations of the contact in question.

After the review, comes the explanations

When these data were filtered, the platform ensured that they would do a thorough inspection to know specifically how many accounts had been breached and which data had been extracted.

After the review period, they confirmed that no more than 50 million accounts had been affected and no more than the aforementioned data.

However, after Cambridge Analytica, with this new security flaw, more people decided to eliminate their accounts and try to make a Facebook detox.

Today, after Facebook f8, they tried to recover lost confidence by ensuring that our data will be truly private, encrypting messages and establishing more rigid security filters, however, spammers are always one step ahead.

The groups are the new target

On Facebook, groups have become the new way to find publications and content without so much “junk” that we find in the feed.

The popularity of these has grown so much, that some have been monetized and became an excellent opportunity to advertise products to a specific niche without wasting marketing efforts.

And as with everything that is public, when it is good, it will have detractors; this time they manifest themselves in the form of “members of sabotage”.

What does it consist of? Let’s say that a person manages a successful group that has 15 thousand members and its content is highly monetizable, but that does not like the competition.

As many of these groups are private, the saboteurs choose to fill out a request for access to the group and once accepted, they publish offensive or inappropriate content to cause the platform to close the group.

This has caused that many of the groups that were previously private, now are secret, this, to avoid an attack as they have been taking place lately, because a few days, (and for certain groups even a few hours) of being closed can represent monetary losses very important.

Why is it always Facebook?

Some unfortunate interpretations point to the possibility that Facebook is a network with so many flaws because it is neglected and little controlled by its administrators.

However, with a little more vision within the digital marketing medium, we can reach the conclusion that the most popular network is the one in which the most concentrated efforts, both negative and positive.

Facebook is still a network used by billions of people around the world, which means that a lot of attention is focused on it.

Monthly active users of every network speak for themselves

The number of users also allows the network to have a reach and engagement as few other networks have managed to have, which is why many people keep trying to throw stones at the giant that rises through the skies.

We know well that, despite the failures that have, Facebook will continue reigning at least for a good time.
