Things look better for Facebook on Q4

Last time we looked at Facebook’s quarterly numbers, we saw loses, mainly in Europe.

However, this time Mark Zuckerberg comes back with a smile on his face, in spite of yet another privacy scandal surrounding his platform.

The proof that Facebook just went through a small bump on the road

According to the previous report, Facebook had suffered a loss of users, and its rate of growth had slowed down on important markets, this led to a small fall on Wall Street for Facebook.

However, things are different this time. In Europe, where we saw red flags before, the number of monthly active users grew by six million reaching to 2.32 million active users worldwide, a new record for the platform.

Also, there were some rumors about Facebook losing popularity in young users against apps like Instagram and Snapchat. This new report, however, shows 1.52 billion active users daily

This means that Facebook’s growth rate has yet to stop and the average usage is still worthy of attention by brands and agencies all over the world.

This time, the objectives were not only met but surpassed and the investors were left happy with these numbers, leading to a growth of 9% in the market for Facebook. The numbers talk about a very healthy app, but its most important weapon against speculation is still revenue.

Facebook, the grand king of social media

In 2018’s last quarter, Facebook reports having generated a revenue of $16.92 billion USD, when they were hoping to make only $16.39 billion. This means that not only its userbase is growing, but more brands are going in and betting on Facebook Ads.

Now not everything on Q3 was bad news. Facebook reported great growth in difficult markets, growth that is still a reality in this new report. In fact, they saw unexpected growth on every geographical market. This means, thinking about ROI, agencies should also notice growth in the most difficult regions of digital marketing.

Finally, a very important piece of data for everyone is the average revenue per user, which has seen an increment in every region. On average, worldwide each Facebook user is bringing them $7.37 dollars USD, a growth of $1.36 in comparison with Q3. For us, this number means the potential each user has for brand revenue on the platform.

Walking on quicksand

Right now Facebook enjoys great health. However, Success that doesn’t come without its setbacks. From the moment Mark Zuckerberg had to stand in front of the United States Congress, Facebook has suffered scandal after scandal concerning its handle of private information.

And, no matter what each scandal was actually about, the thing that concerns the users the most is Facebook’s capacity to compile personal data. Then there’s the new algorithm on the site purposed to showing us the posts we are most likely to engage with.

This has made Facebook’s path difficult to walk in many ways and which makes a lot of people and brands to stay away from the app, disregarding completely its benefits for marketing.

The good thing is, that these numbers are the result of the constant changes we’ve seen since the end of 2018 from top to bottom. Every little thing they fix, every new option added, every app with the platform it promotes, is one more stone on the scale in favor of Facebook.

Finally, while Facebook keeps growing, more users bring their eyes, willing to take what our brands have to offer.
